The Process
Building your dream home from the ground up is likely one of the biggest investments you will ever make, and you want to feel confident that your vision is well understood, achievable and within your budget. Here’s how we work with you to ensure that your needs and wants are met.
Collaborate
During the collaboration phase, we will sit down with you and discuss your ideas about what type of home you want. We encourage you to bring pictures, sketches and other materials to get the conversation started. Consider the following:
- In what room or rooms will you spend most of your time? Bedroom? Kitchen? Office?
- Do you prefer a balance of form and function?
- How much privacy do you want? Open floor plan, or a traditional room layout?
- How often do you entertain guests? Will you need a common area, or is your home a place for family only?
Answering these questions will help us understand not only what you want your home to look like, but the flow of life that goes on inside of it.
Interpretation
After the initial collaboration, we will take all of your ideas and design a conceptual sketch of your home. The sketch will include the core elements of your house, such as:
- Floor plans
- Front elevation (front view of home)
- Dimensions and labels of rooms
You will have an opportunity to review our sketches and make revisions as you see fit. Perhaps you changed your mind about an element or two, or perhaps you came across some other ideas after the initial meeting. Whatever it is, we want you to be content and satisfied with your plans.
Final Construction Drawings
Once we have come up with a conceptual sketch that you are happy with, we will begin the final phase of the New Home Design: Final Construction Drawings. Here we will cover in greater detail the full scope of your home.
- Four Exterior Elevations (views of all four sides of your home)
- Foundation/Basement Plans
- Final Floor Plans
- Roof Plan
- Wall Section
At this point, your home is ready to go from concept to construction. You can feel confident that your personal preferences have been incorporated into the design of your new home.
